First Water-Driven Spinning of Generating Unit 2
The first water-driven spinning of generating unit 2 was successfully carried out in the HPP Brežice powerhouse on 27 February 2017. After having been dry-tested, the equipment is now being wet-tested. Generating unit 2 is going to be synchronized with the power transmission grid in March, and the trial operation as per contract terms is scheduled to start this month as well.
Generating unit 1 has been in mandatory trial operation since January 2017.
Turbine and generator equipment is being installed on generating unit 3. It will be fitted with a rotor this March. After that, installation work on generating unit 3 will be finalized, paving the way for the testing stage to begin.
Comprehensive final testing of the generating units will be performed once the reservoir is filled up to the nominal height, which will only be possible once the work on the reservoir embankments and the Krško Nuclear Power Plant (NEK) dam modification have been completed.
All major construction operations on HPP Brežice have been finished. Fitting and finishing work is under way in the powerhouse, and outdoor finishing operations are being carried out along both sides of the Sava River. Finishing work on the power plant's access bridge is scheduled for this spring.
There has been no change to the dates for the technical inspection and start of trial operation of the hydroelectric power plant, which are expected to take place at the end of September this year.
