Generating Unit 2 Begins Mandatory Trial Operation

Generating unit 1 has fulfilled its contractual obligation to complete a 60-day trial operation period, and it has now been fully commissioned. The filling of the reservoir up to the nominal height and the retaking of certain start-up tests and measurements will be followed by the final acceptance of generating unit 1.

Generating unit 2 was synchronized with the electric power grid at the HPP Brežice powerhouse on 7 March 2017. This was followed by a successfully completed internal technical inspection, which encompassed all work done on generating unit 2, including the battery of tests. Generating unit 2 has been in mandatory trial operation since 21 March 2017.

The installation of turbine and generator equipment on generating unit 3 has been under way throughout March, with the generator rotor now in position and electrical installation work nearing completion. April will see the finalization of installation work and the beginning of the start-up testing stage – with mandatory contractual trial operation scheduled to begin in May.

All major construction work has been completed, there is still some finishing work to be done along both banks of the Sava River and on the power plant's access bridge. Fitting and finishing work is well under way in the powerhouse.

The filling of the reservoir up to the nominal height is expected to take place once  the Krško Nuclear Power Plant (NEK) dam modification have been completed.

There has been no change to the dates for the technical inspection and start of trial operation of HPP Brežice, which are scheduled for the end of September 2017.
