Generating Unit 3 Begins Contractual Trial Operation
Work on the HPP Brežice dam structure and powerhouse continues according to schedule, with the main focus on the generating units, their operation, final installation steps, and testing. The trial operation of generating unit 2 as per contract terms was successfully completed on 20 May 2017, and generating unit 2 has been provisionally accepted with the reservoir filled to the low-level mark. The final acceptance of generating units 1 & 2 will take place once the reservoir has been filled up to its nominal height and start-up tests have been retaken at the rated capacity.
Generating unit 3 has passed an internal technical inspection on 24 May 2017 and has been in a 60-day contractual trial operation since 26 May 2017.
Installation work has been completed on the mechanical and electrical sections, generators, turbines, and the HPP access bridge, which is currently being used for construction transport purposes. With its technical crew, the company HESS has already accepted the switching substation, grid-connected transformer, generating unit 1, process water and compressed air supply systems, and the turbine auxiliary system.
Fence building as well as sowing and planting operations are under way in the hydropower plant's surroundings, and the finishing contractors are wrapping up their work with the final finishing touches.
There has been no change to the dates for the technical inspection and start of trial operation of HPP Brežice, which are scheduled for the end of September 2017.
