Generating Unit 3 Testing Started

Work on Hydroelectric Power Plant Brežice continues, with the main focus now on the operation and finalization of the generating units. Generating unit 1 has been provisionally accepted with the reservoir filled to the low-level mark, which is to be followed by its final acceptance once the reservoir has been filled up to the nominal height and certain start-up tests and measurements have been retaken. Generating unit 2 has been in mandatory trial operation since 21 March 2017.

The installation of turbine, generator and ancillary electrical equipment on generating unit 3 was completed in April. Start-up dry testing of the installed turbine and generator equipment started on 10 April 2017. Mandatory trial operation of generating unit 3 is scheduled to begin at the end of May.

All major construction work and work on the power plant's access bridge, which is used for construction traffic, have been completed. Outdoor finishing operations, with plantings and fence building, are nearing completion along both banks of the Sava River. Final painting, tiling and lock fitting work is currently under way in the powerhouse.

The filling of the reservoir up to the nominal height is expected to take place once the work on the Krško Nuclear Power Plant (NEK) dam modification has been completed. There has been no change to the dates for the technical inspection and start of trial operation of HPP Brežice, which are scheduled for the end of September this year.
