HPP Brežice – First Water-Driven Spinning of the Generating Unit
Installed equipment testing continues at the HPP Brežice powerhouse, with the first water-driven spinning of generating unit 1 successfully executed on 8 December 2016. Construction work on the crest of the second spillway, which was interrupted in November due to elevated water levels of the Sava River, has now been completed. As for the hydromechanical equipment on the second spillway, the downstream maintenance gates are going to be removed next and the radial gate setup finalized.
Work in the power plant's control room has been completed and the operating personnel is already controlling the radial gates' operation.
The facilities have undergone an internal technical inspection, including the equipment of the 110kV switching substation, 110/10.5kV grid-connected transformer, 10.5kV switching substation, 10.5/0.4kV unit transformer, and on-site distribution boxes.
Work on the 110kV power line for connecting HPP Brežice to the power transmission grid is nearing completion. The synchronization of generating unit 1 with the power grid and trial operation are scheduled to take place in January 2017.
Turbine and generator equipment is currently being installed on generating units 2 and 3. The testing and trial operation of generating unit 2 are scheduled to begin in early 2017, and the trial operation of generating unit 3 is scheduled for June 2017.
The filling of the reservoir up to the nominal height will be possible once the work on the reservoir embankments and the Krško Nuclear Power Plant (NEK) dam modification have been completed, which is expected to happen in the spring of 2017.
There has been no change with regard to the dates for the technical inspection and start of trial operation of the power plant, which are scheduled for the end of September 2017.
