HPP Brežice – Installed Equipment Testing Under Way
Construction, fitting and finishing work on the powerhouse continued all through November. Construction work on the crest of spillway 2 was limited due to high water conditions of the Sava River.
Work in the power plant's control room and dedicated facility for the personnel operating the radial gates has been completed. Painting and tiling work continues in the machine room, along with the laying of machine and electrical wiring and piping and the installation of metal frameworks. The glass facade is being mounted onto the building, and work is under way on the community infrastructure and outdoor areas next to the multipurpose structure.
In line with the overall construction schedule, the HPP Brežice powerhouse is now ready for the intermediate filling of the reservoir for the purpose of testing the installed equipment. All equipment has been installed on the first power generating unit in the machine room and is now being tested. Because unfavourable hydrological conditions (increased flow of the Sava) and the resulting lower water head caused the planned filling of the reservoir for testing the equipment to be postponed indefinitely, start-up dry testing is currently being carried out. The planned operations, reservoir filling and equipment testing will start as soon as hydrological conditions improve.
Turbine and generator equipment is being installed on the second and third power generating units according to schedule, and electrical equipment is being installed and tested there as well.
The filling of the reservoir up to the nominal height will be possible once the work on the reservoir embankments and the Krško Nuclear Power Plant (NEK) dam modification have been completed, which is expected to happen in the spring of 2017.
There has been no change with regard to the dates for technical inspection and start of trial operation, which are scheduled for the end of September 2017.
