Responsibility to the Local Communities

Already during the planning and siting of hydroelectric power plants, and later during their construction and operation, we know how to tune in to various interests of the local communities and we make every effort to meet as many objectives as possible for the common good. We are more than just electricity providers; we look at our activities from a wider perspective and we seek to find common ground on various topics in order to ensure fruitful coexistence.

In addition to their energy potential, the reservoirs also offer opportunities for various tourist and fishing activities and can be used for irrigation during dry seasons to prevent damage to agricultural crops.

Also, the bulk of the concession fee goes to the local communities (the rest goes into the national budget) in exchange for the water used for generating electricity. This fee may be an important source of development funds for individual municipalities.
