The project to build hydroelectric power plants on the lower course of the Sava River reached a new milestone on Wednesday 27 September 2017. HPP Brežice, whose construction started in April 2014, has been officially opened – it is the latest addition to the already completed hydroelectric power plants HPP Boštanj, HPP Arto-Blanca and HPP Krško, all built over the course of 11 years. The opening ceremony was attended by numerous reputable State delegates and representatives from the electric utility sector, local communities, and businesses. The opening address was delivered by Mr. Bogdan Barbič, director of the company HESS, which successfully managed the construction project, and the keynote speech was given by the Prime Minister, Mr. Miro Cerar, PhD.
